Length of the Program
The Health Information Management Program is a bachelor’s degree program that requires a total of 45 months to complete. Upon completion of the program, students will have earned a total of 180 class credits. The Health Information Management Program is offered at our Miami, Hialeah, Pembroke Pines, and West Palm Beach campuses with classes that are offered on a flexible basis to match your schedule.
Objectives of the Program
The Health Information Management Program is designed to teach students basic medical terminology, medical billing and coding techniques, and accounting skills. Our program also provides students with training in statistics and economics, legal compliance, and medical documentation. Using the knowledge gained through the Health Information Management Program, students are able to manage offices that provide medical services.
Training Involved
With the skills learned through the Health Information Management Program, graduates are able to use medical codes, act as a liaison between insurance companies and patients, and prepare medical bills. Students also receive training in the recording and filing of patient information using traditional and electronic healthcare information systems. Because they are taught basic medical terminology as well as financial management, graduates of this program are able to perform, direct, and supervise several different tasks that are necessary in medical offices.
